I had an array of sculptural materials/old art in storage, that I could store longer for various reasons. But parting with them was a very uneasy task, so I decided to birth them anew into some other form(s), use them as costumes and performance materials and document them photographically and through video. Here is a sneak peek. I have no reliable hardware at the moment so the videos will come later, digital storage is smaller… invisible.. what is it even? haha
I had been out of communicative range for awhile there, so damn refreshing. Bathing in the Blackwood – getting swept upstream – dressed in black mud and the cleanest murky water. I forget sometimes about the intensity of beauty that can cripple me at the best of times. And of the fragility in all of us, and in the abundance of love that floats around and how it aint hard to have fun and be a good doog.
Camp Doogs began as an idea in the wonderful minds of some creative Perth folk, as a low-key chill festival for good tunes and good times in a stupendously beautiful environment in the South West. I was generously invited to participate and make some art for the occasion, but by virtue of the very nature of it, it was bound to be more than just that.
Everything crashed. 2 days before a grant application was due my PC was half dead… factory settings… no more programs.. couldn’t even scan on a freakin document cos my multifunction centre program couldn’t be found. But at least my data is still alive. Thank goodness for skydrive. Slowly building up from scratch on this disheveled laptop ala 2007. To think of the changes I have gone through since then… I am surprised this laptop has survived… but somehow miraculously so have I so at least we both share that in common. Opensource programming for the win! I haven’t been able to edit videos in years.. and here I am again (kinda… sorta extisting in an in-between space where windows keep crashing).
My o my. My washing is still wet on the line, uniform inclusive and I have to start work in half an hour. Uh-oh. But now I have a house which is more than I could’ve said in the last few months. Suppose it’s all been a little strange. But strangeness is where magic is born and the future is bright and so it begins.
