Building Vasculous Blocks
‘Building Vasculous Blocks’ is from a series of works exploring the relationship between bodily form and architectural space.
I have previously endeavoured to look at the relationships between and the affects of the actions of the body and the environment of its surroundings, namely through performance and video.
This particular piece however investigates form and space as digital entities, representations of reality trapped somewhere in the realm of pixels. Not real, but ever so close to being able to touch.
The free actions present in the process are acts not unlike the drawing process, where a line can intersect another to create a relationship, a dialogue or a whole new form.
3D modelling is, for me, essentially sculpture with pixels, each layer, tool and material being a tactile form; malleable and impressionable at the artist’s hand. The difference being in that digital form is fleeting and unrestrained, it is ever-changing and the possibilities limitless.
Overall I am interested in exploring these drawing and sculptural concepts within the sphere of new media. Honing in on how body relates to space, and how space relates to the body.
